Message From President

Here at the Orthopaedic Institute of Southern Illinois, we work to provide the highest quality of care to our patients each and every day. We pride ourselves on being the only independent, physician-owned, musculoskeletal organization in Southern Illinois, serving patients all over the three-state region.

As we continue our strategic growth plan following the surge of the COVID-19 pandemic, we look to bring in additional surgeons and build upon our relationships throughout our Illinois markets. With our surgery center right next door, Southern Illinois Orthopedic Center, it allows us to get patients the care they need quicker, with a lower chance of infections and higher rate of recovery than in an inpatient setting. We will continue to work hard for you and continue to deliver the quality care that you deserve.

Our Mission

“To improve the quality of life through premier orthopaedic care.”

Vision Statement

Southern Illinois Orthopaedic Centers will be the regionally dominant, patient choice, state-of-the-art outpatient musculoskeletal centers, offering a comprehensive continuum of services. We will care for the orthopaedic well-being of patients in a clinically excellent and service-oriented manner.

Our Philosophy

We will work hard to provide every patient the best possible value. We will do whatever it takes to provide a diagnosis and treat each patient without regard to race, religion or payer source. We will not order any test, prescribe any medication, order any treatment or perform any surgery unless we believe it is absolutely necessary.

We believe in honesty, sometimes what we say may not be what one wants to hear, but we will always be honest. We will always recommend a treatment plan that we believe is best for the individual. With an honest flow of information we can help our patients find solutions and resolve the problems they have brought to us. We will always be honest and treat our patients with respect and hope that it will be returned in kind.

The Orthopaedic Institute complies with applicable Federal civil rights laws and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, disability, or sex.

Our History

In November of 2000, Southern Orthopaedic Associates, at 305 West Jackson Street in Carbondale, Illinois, and Marion Orthopaedics, at 808 West Prairie, Marion, Illinois, came together and agreed to combine their practices. This organization was formed as Southern Orthopaedic Associates / Southern Illinois Orthopaedic Center, a clinic and state-of-the-art Surgery Center. With the leadership of the physicians, the Surgery Center is operated in partnership with Southern Illinois Healthcare (SIH). From its opening, the Surgery Center has received and maintained approval from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc (AAAHC) and other Illinois State agencies.

In May of 2012, SIOC became the Orthopaedic Institute of Southern Illinois. The name change was made to better represent the orthopaedic group’s doubling in geographical service area, regionally superior level of experience and specialty trained surgeons, as well as the most advanced surgical techniques and procedures performed in the heartland.
